Breaking the stigma: why therapy is essential for Mental Health and wellbeing

Mental health is just as important as physical health, yet many people are still hesitant to seek help. You have a GP for your physical health, and as such a therapist for your mental health can be just as valuable. The stigma associated with mental illness can prevent people from seeking the help they need.

Through therapy you can learn new ways to cope with stress, anxiety and general life stressors. It does not have to only be for diagnosed mental health conditions; but also has benefits for people who are experiencing depression, trauma and addiction.

Through working with someone who is solely focused on your wellbeing, you can develop a better understanding of yourself, your relationships, continue to develop your self-awareness and communication skills.

You have the power to decide how you want your life to be. You can decide whether you want to tackle the things that are holding you back now or later, but it will still be there if you choose to tackle it later.

Therapy is a safe, effective and evidence based way to address a wide range of mental health concerns; and develop strategies to help with managing life stressors, improve relationships and improve your quality of life. Seeking help, is a sign of strength, not weakness.
